Are you still finding it difficult to lose those last few pounds despite your best efforts to exercise regularly and eat well? Many factors can affect weight loss but here are some key things that may be stopping you from seeing positive results.
Exercising Too Much:
Inflammation and increased cortisol levels can cause your body to hold onto weight. Too much exercise is physical stress and your body will produce excess cortisol to try and cope with it.
Thyroid Problem:
If you’ve done all the necessary things properly but still no success it’s a good idea to have your Thyroid checked by a specialist. A malfunctioning Thyroid gland can affect your metabolism.
Lack of Sleep:
Sleep deprivation can also cause an increase in the stress hormone cortisol. Everyone requires a different amount of sleep but aim for 7 – 8 hours a night.
A Fat-Free Diet:
Not all fats are created equal. Aim for healthy fats such as fish, nuts, seeds, avocado, coconut oil, and olive oil. Our bodies require good quality fats in order to be healthy and lose weight.
Eating The Wrong Foods:
Stay away from processed foods and focus on a whole foods diet. We all require a proper combination of complex carbohydrates, lean protein, and healthy fats. Have 3 main meals and 2 snacks daily to keep your metabolism fired up and blood sugar levels stable.
Too Much Sugar:
Read the labels, you’ll find it in the most unexpected places. Sugar is very addictive, even a small amount will cause your body to crave it.
Excessive Toxins:
Being exposed to toxins affects your liver and hormones potentially causing you to gain weight. Flush out toxins by drinking lots of water, eating enough fiber and try a good quality liver support supplement. Choose organic food and skin products when possible and exercise to help with elimination. I recommend a detox program at least once a year.
Late Night Eating:
It’s best to have your last meal of the day at least 3 hours before bed. Lack of activity, while you’re in bed, will only cause the excess calories to be stored as fat. It can also cause digestive issues and disrupt your sleep.
Lack of Vitamin D:
Vital for weight loss and many people are deficient. Make sure you include fish, mushrooms, tofu, eggs, and some dairy. Go outside and get some sunshine, a good quality Vitamin D supplement is recommended.
Too Much Stress:
Life can be crazy at times and most people are very busy which can be stressful. Cortisol is produced by the adrenal glands and can keep you from slimming down.
Quick Fix Diets:
Refrain from fad diets that are restrictive and unhealthy. The problem with these types of diets is that they are not sustainable. You will end up gaining the weight back and sometimes more. My programs will teach you how to eat healthily, get the results you desire and keep the weight off!
